Ceredigion Music Service puts music at the heart of every school in the county, by offering one-to-one lessons in a variety of instruments – from the harp to the guitar, as well as all orchestral instruments and vocal lessons that build confidence and interest in pupils.
The service creates opportunities for pupils through a variety of ensembles, including orchestras, brass and wind bands, harps and guitar ensembles, and primary and secondary choirs that perform at concerts and events that enrich the community. They work closely with partners such as Aberystwyth University, Theatr Felin-Fach, and Cardigan Castle, offering unique experiences through opportunities with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales (BBC Now) and ABC of Opera, which opens up the world of classical and theatrical music to young people.
Through the First Experiences project, year 3 children across Ceredigion receive an hour a week of lively musical activities for an entire term. From rhythmic games to traditional songs and the learning of two instruments, this programme sparks the imagination of pupils.
More than anything, Ceredigion Music Service is passionate about making music accessible to all. Music therapist works closely with centres and children with additional learning needs, ensuring that the transformative power of music reaches every child, regardless of their background or ability.
