Wrexham, Denbigh and Conwy Music Co-operative delivers broad and inclusive music experiences. From bilingual instrumental and vocal lessons to whole-class First Experiences in samba, pBuzz, ukulele and more. All pupils are supported to explore and enjoy music. Live performances, including the popular ‘Make Some Noise’ band, help bring music to life in schools.
Progression pathways are supported through a wide range of ensembles across Denbighshire, Wrexham and Conwy, including county and regional choirs, orchestras, percussion groups, and rock and pop bands. Pupils receive tailored support for GCSE, A-Level and BTEC Music courses, and participate in regional competitions and performances — building musical and social confidence.
The service also leads on inclusive and wellbeing-focused provision. This includes music and wellbeing holiday courses, additional learning needs support, music therapy delivered by registered practitioners, as well as tailored provision for home-educated children and those from vulnerable backgrounds. Recent grants have enabled increased access to adaptive equipment and provision for pupils with autism.
To support schools and teachers, the service provides bespoke learning resources and professional development. Partnerships are also key to delivery and impact, including with BBC NOW, New Sinfonia, Arts Council Wales, and community groups like City of Wrexham Brass Band, Côr Nant Clwyd, and Ryder Academi.
