Theatr Clwyd Music delivers high-quality, inclusive music education and performance opportunities for over 3,000 children, young people, and adults each week. Through instrumental and vocal lessons, ensembles, events, and workshops, the service supports accessible musical progression across Flintshire’s schools and communities.
A talented team of Music Associates, each with specialist skills, work in partnership with schools, communities, and Theatr Clwyd’s wider creative team to develop unique projects. The service also collaborates with regional and national partners to expand musical opportunities and drive innovation across the sector.
The First Experiences programme is delivered in every primary and specialist school in Flintshire, giving over 2,000 Year 3 pupils access to 10 weeks of whole-class singing and instrumental tuition at no cost to schools. Additional support is available through large group or whole-class lessons, clubs, and a schools subscription package offering resources, continuous professional development, and curriculum support.
Progression is supported through the Musical Pathways programme and nine ensembles, including choirs, wind bands, and pop and rock groups. Theatr Clwyd Music also co-leads Tri-County Ensembles, which bring together over 120 young musicians from across North East Wales for shared performance and development opportunities.
