Three Counties to premier work by Paul Mealor

27/04/2026

The Three Counties Choir and Orchestra came together at Ysgol Aberteifi on April 18th & 19th to rehearse for the first time a brand new piece by royal composer Paul Mealor, set to words by the bard Menna Elfyn.

‘Angerdd a Cherdd’ has been written specifically for young musicians, which will be performed for the first time at Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru in Pembrokeshire in August. 150 pupils from Sir Gar, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion will take part in the ensemble project, and will perform the new piece on the final Saturday evening, 8th August 2026, in the main pavilion on the maes.

The project is funded through National Music Service Wales and the National Eisteddfod, and is co-ordinated by the local authority music services in Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.

There will be access to the performance in the pavilion with that day’s field ticket, which can be bought beforehand on the National Eisteddfod website, or on the field during the week of the Eisteddfod.
